Spotlight on Court of St. James Chapter

Welcome to the Court of St. James Chapter: we invite ladies of British or Commonwealth birth or ancestry, or have significant others of the same heritage, to join our chapter.  Our members come from Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Coachella Valley and the surrounding areas.

We meet the 1st Monday of the month (from October through June) at Noon in the Portola Community Center in Palm Desert. We have a short business meeting followed by a potluck lunch and time to socialize.

Court of St. James Chapter’s primary purpose is to raise funds for the British Home in California Inc. The Home is a non-profit, independent and assisted living retirement home for seniors located in Sierra Madre.  We have adopted two ‘special friends’ at the Home and enjoy sending Christmas gifts and cards on a regular basis.

We try to plan fundraising activities after our meetings, with hosting duties shared by our members and often include ‘White Elephant Sales, We also held two Parking Lot Sales, one at a place of business and one at a member’s home.

We celebrated Prince Harry’s wedding with a lovely luncheon at a member’s home and our Christmas luncheon at our Regent’s home was a gracious event.  We love getting together socially at local restaurants, especially if they have Fish & Chips on the menu!
